FINANCIAL AID AND SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. If you are a U.S. citizen, or eligible non-citizen, and plan to attend college or a technical, vocational, or trade school, you must submit the FAFSA to be eligible for federal student aid—grants, work-study, and loans. In California, the FAFSA is also used to determine eligibility for state aid, otherwise known as Cal Grants. Some colleges also require students to complete the FAFSA in order to be considered for any school-based awards, such as grants and scholarships. The California Dream Act allows students enrolled in eligible California colleges or technical, vocational, or trade schools to apply for state financial aid. Through the CA Dream Act, undocumented and nonresident documented students can qualify for grants, scholarships, and community college fee waivers.
