Counselor Bios
Mrs. Juanita Barnes
I have been a counselor at the elementary, middle school and high school level for over 20 years. I grew up in Los Angeles, California and received my Bachelor’s degree from California State University Dominguez Hills, followed by a Master's degree from the University of LaVerne.
I enjoy working with the students at SEEO, our school is unique and the perfect setting for me. I look forward to assisting all students with their educational and career journey. Whether students are interested in attending a university, community college, the military or heading straight to work, you will receive support along the path which best suits your interests.
Life is a journey, not a destination... and as you embark upon this journey, I hope you keep your focus and accomplish everything you are striving for.
Mrs. Esmelda Gonzalez
I've been a school counselor for 12 years. I graduated from San Jose State with my Bachelors in Sociology and Criminology and following that, received my Masters from San Diego State University in School Counseling. I have worked in middle school, school mental health, and alternative education.
I come from a large family and have one very precocious toddler that keeps me busy. Family is very important to me, as well as building up our community. I love to learn and experience new things, especially about other cultures. For this reason, I love to travel. I’ve been to around 30 different countries. My goal is to take my child to every state in the United States by the time he is 18 and to many different countries to explore, explore, explore!
As a school counselor and advocate, I provide support to our students in their academics, career, and personal/social. I believe it is important to provide support in all areas to assist our students in becoming productive and resilient students out in the community. Education is important and I am here to help our students graduate and plan their next steps after high school.
Ms. Kassandra Perales
I was born and raised in Corona, California. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, as well as with my two energetic Australian Shepherds; Malibu and Maxx. When I am not at work, you can find me at food fairs, sporting events (Dodgers, Clippers, and Chargers), Grandma’s house eating Cuban food, or taking day trips to visit different cities with my best friend.
I received my Bachelors of Science Degree in Child and Adolescent Development with a focus on Families and Communities from Cal State Fullerton, GO TITANS! On February 2018, I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational and Clinical Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. I have two years of experience working in mental health where I help support students with a mental health condition(s) or families who are caring for a child with a mental health condition(s). I am also working towards obtaining my Licensure to become a Professional Clinical Counselor.
